Since the design of the newer model remains the same, you can still get away with using the same accessories as before. You can often avoid the caution sign that states, "Do not use with older iPod models", as this only applies to accessories older than three years from your current iPod type. If your iPod has retained the same design, you can still use last year's charging station with your electronic without risking any injury to the iPod. The same applies for any protective cases and radio equipment, as most of these accessories will still function with older generation types so long as the iPod maintains the same design.
When to Buy a New Case

When you first see these little fractures, you may see the fractures are little and not important, but if you drop the case again, you run the risk of cracking the case as well as the iPod. In some instances, case accessories promise better protection and care for your device, but the same can be said for older products and accessories that offer the same protection at a lesser cost than a newer model. Owners only need to get newer items if the iPod itself changes in design or if the model is not compatible with older accessories. In order to avoid any mishaps, always look over the package label of the item to determine if it is compatible with your iPod model.
